McDonald’s on the Ramp
McDonald’s on the Ramp is an institution in Birmingham culture, famously occupying the walkway that connects New Street’s shopping area to Grand Central. The restaurant sits at the base of the inclined ramp-a pedestrian route that has become a beloved local landmark. Since the late 1970s, it has served as the go-to rendezvous point for weekenders, teenagers and shoppers looking for an easily recognised meeting place. The branch offers the full McDonald’s menu including breakfasts, burgers, wraps and McCafé coffee. It’s a window onto Birmingham life, operating 24 hours daily and frequently packed during peak times.

Absolute shambles this place is. Security and staff were lovely apart from the cleaner who did nothing but perv and pick on me and a friend. After a night out on the 13-06 at 12pm, me and a friend went to the toilets to wee when he decided he was going to have a conversation with me and a friend whilst we were using the female bathroom and as a male wouldn’t leave the facility. Another girl decided to speak up and tell him to leave when he persisted to carry on trying to intimate us when we were indecent. Then when we were eating after spending £25 he threw napkins at me and intimated the lads we were with to the point when the bouncer of McDonald’s had to intervene. He then approached us again and touched me. Absolutely disgusting and deserves jail. Everyone else in the venue was lovely. But did forget my friend water bottle.

The staff were really kind and helpful. I have 2 small children and a pram - it is hard to get a table downstairs because there is limited seating. It got very busy and the food was ok but not the 'fullest' amount of chips served.

Tens of experiences with this branch in the previous year, overall a great restaurant. Next to the train station, so relatively busy especially during peak hours. The service speed is fast and satisfying. Enough seats to dine in even in busy periods. The food quality is fine, never problems with that. Sometimes there are small mistakes with the orders, but always solvable in the end.

Very very busy place I have to say. Probably the busiest I've ever been to. Used a machine to buy the meal. Very easy to get the hang of. Takes a minute to make an order and pay. For others it seems the opposite. When waiting people seem to wait for different parts instead of getting all at once. Orders taken too long because of how customers were getting their orders. Mine was always a takeaway as I had my hotel room close by the restaurant. So can't say about the sitting area upstairs.

My dining experience left me slightly disappointed as the meal's quantity fell short of my expectations. Despite the speedy preparation, the portion size failed to match that of other McDonald's outlets in the city. The table's untidiness further added to the less-than-ideal atmosphere. Although, it's in the city center which makes it a perfectly accessible spot for burger enthusiasts. However, the familiar delight of McDonald's taste remained consistently excellent, as expected. The flavors and quality of the food continue to be a commendable aspect, providing a satisfying culinary experience. While the quantity and tidiness aspects may have left room for improvement, the unwavering taste quality reaffirms McDonald's commitment to delivering a consistently delicious dining experience. Despite the minor shortcomings, the familiar and delightful taste ensures that McDonald's remains a reliable choice for those seeking a flavorful and enjoyable meal.
