Açai and the Tribe is a bright, casual health-focused café on Regent Street in Leamington Spa town centre.

Specialising in premium açai bowls made with berries shipped directly from the Brazilian rainforest, the menu offers fully customisable breakfast and brunch bowls with granola, fresh fruit, nuts and nut butters, plus hearty superfood smoothies, good-quality coffee, matcha and chai. The venue markets approximately 90% of its menu as vegan and gluten-free options, making it exceptionally inclusive. Counter service; takeaway recommended given seating is limited and service can be slow during peak times. Roughly five minutes walk from the formal Jephson Gardens, making it ideal for a quick fuel-up before exploring the Victorian park.

Winterbourne House and Gardens

Winterbourne is an exceptional heritage site on the University of Birmingham campus. Built in 1904 for the Nettlefold family, the Grade II listed house showcases period rooms filled with Edwardian-era antiques and soft furnishings. The seven-acre botanic garden features rare surviving Arts and Crafts design, with walled gardens, herbaceous borders, a sandstone rock garden, Japanese bridge, woodland walks, hazelnut tunnel and glasshouses. Over 6,000 plant species from around the world, including collections from China, North and South America and alpine regions, are displayed throughout.

The Terrace Tea Room serves light lunches, afternoon tea with homemade scones and cakes, soups and toasties (available until 3pm), all in a peaceful setting. Visitors typically spend 2 to 3 hours here. A gift shop, second-hand bookshop and plant sales are on-site, and regular craft workshops, talks, garden tours and events run throughout the year.

Café Craft

Café Craft blends creative pottery painting with a welcoming coffee lounge. Pick from over 150 pottery pieces-mugs, plates, bowls, figurines-and paint with supplied materials and easy-to-follow instructions. Your finished piece is glazed and fired in the kiln, ready to collect in 5-7 days. The coffee lounge serves quality coffee, hot and cold drinks, paninis, filled bagels, fresh cakes, muffins, patisseries and a frozen yoghurt bar. The studio hosts children’s parties, hen parties, corporate team-building, baby showers and special events with optional off-site service. Walk-ins welcome but advance booking advised. Wellcome Collection

Wellcome Collection is a free museum and library housed in a striking neo-classical building on Euston Road, dedicated to exploring the connections between medicine, life and art. The collection spans centuries of objects, from Napoleon’s toothbrush to shrunken heads, displayed across multiple galleries. The Building features a permanent exhibition called Being Human, designed with disabled artists and activists, plus rotating temporary exhibitions. The café serves freshly prepared sandwiches, salads, cakes and hot and cold drinks on the ground floor, while the acclaimed Reading Room on the second floor offers a hybrid space for browsing books, objects and attending free events. The venue hosts group visits, private events and offers fully accessible facilities throughout, including British Sign Language tours and audio-described tours for blind and partially sighted visitors.
