Coated Pottery is a hands-on creative studio in the South Brum area of Kings Heath where you choose from a wide range of bisque-fired pottery pieces-mugs, bowls, and much more-then paint them with an extensive selection of easy-to-apply glazes. The studio fires your finished pieces in their own kiln, ready for collection in about two weeks. The space welcomes solo visitors seeking mindful creativity, couples after a date night, families introducing children to pottery, and larger groups; booking in advance is recommended to secure your preferred slot.

Pottery Painting Experience

My husband and I had an incredible time at Coated Pottery. The booking is easy to follow, the facilities, range of items to paint were great and overall experience was amazing. The lovely owner Dan explains the whole painting process so well. Such as how many layers of paint to apply, even encourages you to come with ideas (we came prepared with Pinterest ideas) & will guide through if anybody struggling with how to draw it or paint it! It's only £5 for 2 hour studio time for the booking via the website. And then you pay for the piece of item you want to paint at the end of your session. You also get a free drink (soft drink or hot drink) + free snack whilst you paint which is so hospitable! The whole experience is so great as a date, solo time or catch up with friends and I cannot recommend it enough!

I went here yesterday afternoon with my daughter and 4 year old granddaughter and we had a fabulous couple of hours. Dan talked us through what to do to get the best out of our pottery painting. He was fabulous with my granddaughter Bella , and she loved every minute. She also loved the complimentary snacks and fruit shoot 😁 ( thankyou) Great pieces to paint and lots of choice. Lovely relaxing room. We loved it and will definitely return and recommend. Thankyou Dan

We had the best time here. It was my boyfriend’s first time ever pot painting and now he has found a new hobby! Thank you so much for making his day extra special! We can’t wait to see the finished products and will definitely be back soon!

We had a really nice time doing pottery painting today at Coated! With lots of ceramic options and paint colours to pick from 😊 Dan was very kind and helpful throughout the session as well!
