Eat Vietnam opened as a pop-up in 2017 before finding its permanent home in a converted greasy spoon café on Stirchley High Street. The restaurant is owned by Ming Nham, who grew up in Vietnam and arrived in Birmingham as a child. The menu changes weekly based on fresh ingredient availability and specialises in short, reasonably priced dishes that combine traditional Vietnamese flavours with modern creative twists. Signature items include turmeric fried fish with jasmine rice, barbecued pork curries, marmite and peanut butter chicken wings, and salt and pepper tofu. Many dishes work for vegetarian and vegan diets, with clearly labelled options. Desserts are locally made by Odi and Moo, and the drinks list features organic and low-intervention wines alongside craft beers from local Birmingham Brewing Company, particularly their EVN Yuzu lager. The restaurant operates a reservation system with timed slots, though walk-ins are accommodated when possible. Expect a small, buzzy space with simple seating, an open kitchen, and a friendly, relaxed atmosphere.

This is the best Vietnamese restaurant we have ever been to. The dishes were perfect and so different from all the other Vietnamese restaurants which normally just serve Pho noodles. The spices were lovely. The music was amazing 90s pop. The place was heaving and testament to its quality! Highly recommended.

Several different people had recommended this place to me, and everything about the experience was top notch. Great, creative menu, with lots of small plates and an extensive specials board, so not just limited to pho. Service was excellent from all the staff, lovely setting. Will definitely be returning.

They managed to seat us without a booking at about 6ish on a friday night which was great, ordered some bits off the specials board - everything was so good can’t wait to go back and try some more! highlight was the prawn croquette, pork belly with the chilli sauce. bbq chicken noodles were good too. liked the creamy broth that came with the sesame greens! staff were lovely, great service, 10/10!

We visited 23rd December. The staff as usual were attentive ,friendly and polite. Food came out quickly and there was a fab playlist on giving it a festive party vibe. We had the hispi cabbage, peanut butter chicken wings, veg spring rolls, barbecued courgette, pork and sprouts and chilli potatoes. Everything was unreal but the cabbage absolutely stole the show and I hope they add it to the menu as permanent feature!
