The Plough (Harborne)
The Plough is a beloved independent gastropub on Harborne High Street blending retro charm with contemporary cooking. Its colourful interior features bare wooden tables, brick walls and quirky design touches throughout. The kitchen turns out excellent burgers with homemade beef patties, stone-baked pizzas, battered cod, Cuban sandwiches, calzones, and an extensive brunch menu including bacon butties and full breakfasts alongside award-winning filter coffee. Sunday roasts often sell out; the venue runs a reduced menu until 5pm those days. The substantial vegetarian menu caters well to dietary preferences. Outside, a sheltered beer garden with wicker roof becomes the heart of the venue in warmer months, hosting DJs playing relaxed summer sounds. Table ordering via tablets allows flexible group dining.

The service was nice! Upfront about how the food was going to be a long wait too so that was nice. The food was good, my boyfriend got the house breakfast and he really liked how the beans came seperately and it was a good filling breakfast! I had the bacon brioche sandwich, which was quite messy to eat but really good regardless! Orange juice was fresh and good. The matcha however was way too sweet and didn't taste like matcha at all, which was a shame but it happens. All in all real good!!

Excellent coffee, excellent food and excellent customer service. I was dining alone after dropping a family member at the hospital for their treatment. After I had (rudely) asked if their coffee was any good (I’ve just moved back from Australia, the coffee capital of the World) I can report that it was one of the best I’ve had in the U.K. There was a bit of a mix up with my order which was solved kindly and efficiently. Every member of staff that I interacted with showed top class levels of customer service. I had the fig & goats cheese salad and it was delicious. The Plough was recommended to me and it did not disappoint. I will be back.

My daughter booked this place for a Sunday lunchtime get together. Not knowing what to expect the outside gave no clues as to what was inside. Modern, eclectic, large segmented layout, it's all there. The staff we interacted with were excellent, friendly and extremely obliging. I had a bit of an issue with the ale but I was impressed with the bar staff who put it right. The Sunday lunches were very good, the sliced beef is obviously bought in, and will vary from day to day, but that's true for so many places these days. The sides and vegetables were excellent, especially the cauliflower cheese. Conversely my plum and apple dessert was awful, watery, soggy with no apple, and it had obviously been nuked by a microwave. The other desserts seemed to be fine. And then the bill, a discretionary 12.5% tip added to the bill which we felt made it expensive for what we had. I prefer to leave a tip on the table, to reward those who served us and it's tax free.

Really great experience, food and vibes were immaculate. Great place to just have that nostalgic afternoon with friends. Like you met your friends 10 years ago in the present. On the other hand. Tables and menus could be a bit better really. Bathrooms having lotion is a very nice touch and greatly appreciated. For those reasons really I'll give em a 5 star despite the issues. Please keep improving
