Wyming Brook and Rivelin Reservoir Circular

A lollipop route combining easy family-friendly sections on the wide Wyming Brook Drive (with views across Rivelin reservoirs) with more rocky and uneven terrain beside the brook itself. The first section along the water is the most dramatic with proper rocks, small waterfalls and stepping stones. The middle part is flatter and more relaxed. Can be muddy and slippery near the water.

Wyming Brook Nature Reserve

Wyming Brook Nature Reserve is a precious pocket of wild woodland on the western edge of Sheffield, managed by Sheffield & Rotherham Wildlife Trust. The reserve features a dramatic wooded ravine cut by the tumbling Wyming Brook, with mossy boulders, small waterfalls and stepping stones. Visitors can choose between easy strolls on the wide, surfaced Wyming Brook Drive offering views across the Rivelin reservoirs and Sheffield city beyond, or higher footpaths along rocky crags and a more adventurous boulder-strewn route beside the brook itself. The habitat is part of the Eastern Moors Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and supports diverse wildlife including wood warbler, dipper, and various moths. The reserve has received the Green Flag Award for eight consecutive years.
