About

Hand-rolled Taiwanese bao steamed fresh daily, filled with red braised pork belly, roasted Sichuan lamb or white cut chicken.

Tiger Bites Pig is a Taiwanese-inspired restaurant serving bold, authentic East Asian street food from its Church Street location in Birmingham’s business district.

The signature pillowy bao are steamed fresh each morning and filled with options like red braised pork belly, roasted Sichuan lamb, or white cut chicken, whilst ingredient-led rice bowls draw inspiration from Sichuan province. The kitchen is open to view, and almost every menu element is prepared in-house using traditional techniques: kimchi fermentation, house pickling, and slow braising all feature prominently.

The venue has evolved from its original small counter format on Stephenson Street (2018-2024) into a larger space with ground-floor counter seating ideal for solo diners and a mezzanine restaurant upstairs perfect for groups. Beyond baos and bowls, there’s an expanded drinks menu featuring draught beer, craft beer, wines, cocktails and homemade desserts, blending quick service with a more complete dining experience.

Hi, I attend Colmore food festival each year with my husband. Yesterday we tried the Taiwanese BBQ pork belly bao from the Tiger bites pig stall. Two bao for £13, they looked amazing and the bao bun itself was incredible. Very light and fluffy. Unfortunately though the pork meat was so tough (I was unable to bite through the meat) that we ended up throwing them away. I expected the meat to be nearly as soft as the bao. It was very chewy and for us inedible. I don't leave reviews but I thought it would be helpful to leave feedback of our experience especially if you are going to sign up to next year's festival, £13 is a lot of money for two bao which should be reflected in the quality of meat you use. Although we haven't eaten at your restaurant yet it hasn't put us off visiting in the near future. I hope this feedback is useful to you.

Amazing bao buns. Lots of filling and good options. Would highly recommend. Rice bowls could have been better with less rice and more of the meat, veg and pickles. The cured egg yolk made up for it tho!
