About

The UK's largest glass-fronted dry-ageing fridge anchors this seven-thousand square foot fire-cooking steakhouse in a converted Barclays building, with resident DJs every Friday and Saturday from 20:00.

Pasture Birmingham occupies a striking seven-thousand square foot space in the former Barclays Bank building on Colmore Row, in the heart of Birmingham’s business district. The restaurant is a celebration of ‘Fire, Meat, and Music’, featuring theatrical open-fire cooking visible from the dining room, the UK’s largest glass-fronted dry-ageing fridge, and resident DJs playing house every Friday and Saturday from 20:00. They meticulously select and prepare dry-aged steaks in-house from local farms where all cattle are grass-fed, with standout dishes including the tomahawk steak, rib croquettes with mushroom ketchup, and seasonal seafood starters. The 180-seat main dining room is intimate despite its size, with seating for a further 45 at the bar; the lively, music-driven atmosphere suits celebrations and special occasions, though some guests find conversation challenging during DJ nights. Service is consistently praised as attentive and knowledgeable, with staff explaining cuts and preparations expertly.

Review for Mo! We had an absolutely fantastic meal at Pastures. We chose the House Cuts Chateaubriand, and it was cooked to perfection beautifully tender, packed with flavour, and easily one of the best steaks we’ve ever had! The croquettes were another standout. They were incredibly flavourful, beautifully tender, and simply melted in your mouth with every bite. What really made the experience stand out, however, was our server Mo. His passion for the food was obvious from the moment he introduced each dish. He was incredibly knowledgeable, took the time to explain everything, and his enthusiasm genuinely enhanced the whole dining experience. It’s really refreshing to be served by someone who clearly loves what they do. The food, service, and atmosphere were all beyond exceptional. We left already looking forward to our next visit. 10 out of 10, Highly recommend! 👌🏼

We visited to celebrate my wife's birthday. The staff serving our table were incredibly helpful with both of our allergies, they were also very knowledgeable about the food they were serving. My son had the childrens steak which was cooked perfectly for him (rare) and he was given a very good portion. Myself and wife shared the chateaubriand, it was the nicest piece of steak we have ever eaten and was cooked to perfection. The sides were also delicious and the presentation was outstanding. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Questions

Do I need to book in advance, or can I just walk in?

Booking ahead is strongly recommended. Reservations can be made online via SevenRooms on the Pasture website. Walk-ins may be accommodated at the bar, which has seating for up to 45 people, but the 180-cover dining room fills up quickly, especially on weekends.

Is Pasture Birmingham suitable for children?

Pasture is primarily an upscale steakhouse with a lively, music-driven atmosphere and weekend DJs from 8 pm, it skews towards adult diners. Older children and teenagers who enjoy a buzzy restaurant environment would likely be fine, but it may not suit very young children, particularly later in the evening.

How busy does it get, and when is the best time to visit?

It is a popular and well-reviewed venue, and weekday lunches or early weekday evenings are generally quieter. Fridays and Saturdays get significantly busier once the DJ starts at 8 pm, and the atmosphere can get notably noisy, ideal if you want energy, less so if you prefer easy conversation.
