  Hi, I attend Colmore food festival each year with my husband. Yesterday we tried the Taiwanese BBQ pork belly bao from the Tiger bites pig stall. Two bao for £13, they looked amazing and the bao bun itself was incredible. Very light and fluffy. Unfortunately though the pork meat was so tough (I was unable to bite through the meat) that we ended up throwing them away. I expected the meat to be nearly as soft as the bao. It was very chewy and for us inedible. I don't leave reviews but I thought it would be helpful to leave feedback of our experience especially if you are going to sign up to next year's festival, £13 is a lot of money for two bao which should be reflected in the quality of meat you use. Although we haven't eaten at your restaurant yet it hasn't put us off visiting in the near future. I hope this feedback is useful to you.

  Amazing bao buns. Lots of filling and good options. Would highly recommend. Rice bowls could have been better with less rice and more of the meat, veg and pickles. The cured egg yolk made up for it tho!

  It started as a pleasant evening meal but unfortunately ended in disappointment. The food itself was very good. The bao buns were delicious—light, delicate, and filled with high-quality ingredients. They were definitely worth the price. The biggest surprise was the dessert. The toffee brownie came in a very generous portion and was topped with some of the best vanilla ice cream I’ve had in a long time. Unfortunately, I never received the drink that I ordered with the dessert. After a brief conversation with the manager (or the gentleman behind the bar), I was told they were unable to refund the missing drink because the payment had already been processed through their platform. I was advised to send an email to request a refund instead. I followed that advice and sent two emails. Several weeks have now passed and I have received no response. While the food was enjoyable, the lack of follow-up and poor customer service regarding a simple issue like a missing drink was disappointing. I would recommend double-checking your order and being cautious, as resolving issues afterwards may prove difficult. Edit: I updated my original rating after being contacted by the new management team and receiving a refund for my missing drink. Aside from that issue, this would have easily been a five-star experience — the food was absolutely top tier.

  I knew I'd be around this area so I booked this place for a solo lunch. On their website, it only allowed me to book a counter space, but when I turned up, I was given a choice of tables to sit at. It's quite a small venue, but the service and the food was great. I fancied a beer so I ordered a pint of their own TBP session IPA on draught to drink, and a Red Braised Pork Belly Bao. I asked the young lady if their other meat was haallal, I was assured it wasn't, so I ordered a Fried Chicken with Hot Sauce Bao too. Both Baos were delicious, but I was pleasantly surprised that the chicken one actually had a hot kick to it. All in all, fantastic food and service. I'm not really big on East Asian food so I can't really give an opinion on authenticity, but I can say what I had was lovely.

  I’ve been a big fan of TBP since their days near New Street Station — they were my go-to lunch spot, and I always looked forward to visiting. I’ve only been to the new location twice, and unfortunately, both visits left me a bit disappointed. The first time, the chicken didn’t smell quite right, and the second time, the rice was undercooked. I even brought friends along for the second visit, and they shared the same experience with the rice. That said, I do appreciate that the team made adjustments to the bill, which shows they care about customer satisfaction. I still love TBP’s food — you can tell each ingredient is prepared with care. I’m hopeful that our next visit will be more in line with the quality I remember from their original spot.
